We’re Late to Fall. On Purpose.
Big retail started talking about fall months ago. Being small means we didn’t have to.

Hi friend,
We're a few days into October, and I'm finally ready to talk about fall.
I know. We're late.
By retail standards, we're really late.
Fall Started Months Ago. Apparently.
Fall candles started showing up at some major retailers back in June and July.
And every year I watch it happen a little earlier.
Pumpkins arrive while we're still planning vacations. Christmas sneaks onto shelves before Halloween. And by the time we actually get to the season we've been waiting for, stores are already trying to get rid of it.
It's called seasonal creep.
And as a small business, we're probably not very good at it.
I think that's okay.
Big retailers have a completely different job than we do. They have enormous inventories, distribution schedules and entire seasons of merchandise that need to move before the next one arrives.
We're small.
And being small gives us a luxury they don't always have.
We Get to Live in the Now
When it's summer in Alabama and 100 degrees outside, I don't necessarily need to convince you that you're ready for pumpkin and cinnamon.
Summer gets to be summer.
And now that the mornings are getting cooler, the days are getting shorter and October is actually here?
Fall gets to be fall.
There is something I really like about that.
Small-Batch Isn’t Just About How We Make It
Because when you shop small-batch, seasonal doesn't have to mean something that was made months ago, put on a shelf early and then marked 75% off when its season finally arrives.
We can make things closer to when you actually want them.
We can make another batch.
We can change something.
We can listen when you tell us what you're enjoying.
And we can let a season have its moment before rushing you into the next one.
That's part of what small-batch means to me.
It's not only about how something is made.
It's about when.
So no, we weren't the first company to tell you fall was here.
We didn't need to be.
But it's October now.
Fall Is Finally Here. Not on Clearance. 😏
The Fall Collection is on the shelves. The pumpkins are out. The workshop is changing with the season.
And I'm finally ready to say it: Okay. Now we can talk about fall.
And we're going to enjoy it while it's here.
See you at the shop,
Gabe
